Celebrating Christmas At Home
Updated: Jan 13, 2021
This Christmas is a little different to other Christmases. We are not able to celebrate in the way that we have before but here are a few ways to keep the magical Christmas spirit going and keep our celebrations alive...
Spread the joy of gift giving throughout the day
Have yourselves and your children open presents throughout the day. Keeping the excitement going and also keeping the interest in each present going a little longer too.
Have a Scavenger Hunt
Hide Christmas related items around your home for the family to find - you could even create a treasure hunt with clues to make it a big affair!
Schedule Facetime/Zoom calls with family and friends
Slot in sessions with loved ones to catch up and have a little Christmas fun. You could spend this time playing games (a good old Christmas quiz) or just a general natter and spreading that festive cheer.
Get the drinks flowing!
Christmas doesn't have to be all about the food, why not create some Christmas mocktails with the kids or treat yourself to a Christmas cocktail or two! Here are some recipe ideas.
Enjoy the silver lining of cooking for less people!
This Christmas, treat yourself to the things that YOU want to eat. There is no judgement, no rules, no pressure. Indulge.
A family walk
Once the turkey is in the oven, instead of hosting, go out and enjoy some fresh air. Get all wrapped up and go on a lovely family adventure. Usually, at this time, local communities pull together and no doubt there will be a festive trail or some street lights to enjoy along the way!
Binge on Christmas movies
Will it be Home Alone? Will it be Elf or it's a wonderful life next??
Dress up for Christmas Dinner
Why not go all out and dress up for Christmas? Whether it be a posh frock and some pearls, Christmas jumpers, PJs or even fancy dress to make things fun!
Have a Christmas family party
Christmas music, flashing lights, Karaoke and a nice long list of Christmas games you could play! Maybe get a bubble machine going, party poppers and streamers! For the more competitive, you could have games tournaments on various consoles, board games, a Christmas themed sports day or even a gingerbread house building competition!
Enjoy family time
One thing this year has taught many of us is how much we value our loved ones and how important spending time with them really is. So whether it is online or in person, embrace it, enjoy it and have some fun.
Have a lovely Christmas whatever you get up to!
Lots of love,
